Another easy, creamy dessert is coming at your way and you have to try and make it! Believe me it's very easy and it will satisfy your sweet tooth.. It's an easy modern version of the traditional Galaktompoureko which is one of the most famous desserts in Greece.
So.. the next time you'll visit your grocery store grab a package of phyllo pastry. I'm sure you have all the other ingredients that are needed available at your home..
Ingredients
1 package phyllo pastry thawed
250 g butter
750 ml milk (3 cups)
8 - 10 tablespoons sugar
Zest of 1 orange
A pinch of salt
1 cinnamon stick
Confectioners sugar and ground cinnamon
How to make
Using a saucepan melt the butter, and using a brush grease really good a baking pan.
Brush with butter a phyllo sheet and crease it with your hands. Preheat oven to 380 degrees.
Move the creased phyllo in the baking pan and continue brushing with butter the other sheets and place them in the pan.
When all the leaves are in the pan, bake the pie for 20 minutes to brown and crisp the phyllo.
Place a saucepan over medium heat, add the milk, sugar, zest and cinnamon stick. Let it simmer for 10 minutes (we don't want to boil the mixture), stirring occasionally.
After the 20 minutes of baking the phyllo, remove the pan and pour lugs of the milk mixture over the phyllo pastry.
Return the pan in the oven and bake 25 minutes more.
When it's ready, remove from the oven and sift the confectioners sugar and ground cinnamon
return to the oven and continue baking for 5 minutes more (optional).
Let it cool a bit before serving.
Enjoy!!!
